Combo Classes

The kids combo classes include an hour of half Ballet and half Jazz dance.  Dancers will learn proper positioning and basic technique, along with different dance combos to help them connect the technical skills learned in class.

Fairly Tale Ballet
This class is a fun introduction to Ballet for the beginning dancer.  Dancers can dress up like their favorite princess if they would like to.  Dancers will work on a specific fairy tale for a few weeks, reading the story and dancing parts of it, connecting their technique to the story, until they have created an entire combination to the story.  All while dancing ballet!

Hip Hop
Hip-hop dance refers to social or choreographed dance styles primarily danced to hip-hop music or that have evolved as part of hip-hop culture.

Jazz Dance
Jazz dance is a classification shared by a broad range of dance styles. Prior to the 1950s, jazz dance referred to dance styles that originated from African American vernacular dance. In the 1950s, a new genre of jazz dance—modern jazz dance—emerged, with roots in Caribbean traditional dance. Every individual style of jazz dance has roots traceable to one of these two distinct origins. Dancers will learn the proper technique concerning turns, leaps, kicks, accent movement and different combinations learned in class.

Zumba
Zumba is a fusion of body sculpting movements with easy to follow dance steps to the tune of Latin and International music. The routine features aerobic/fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body. Zumba utilizes the principles of fitness interval training and resistance training to maximize caloric output, fat burning and total body toning.

Contemporary Dance
Contemporary is a fusion of many different genres, including: jazz, ballet, and lyrical.  Contemporary focuses on Dance as an Art Form, emphasizing on the emotion the dancer is feeling at the time.  It is not a specific dance technique but a collection of methods developed from modern and post-modern dance and can take on many forms including dance fusion, emergent dance and revisionism.

Adult Jazz
This class is for the never ending dancer in us all!  Who says that the teenagers get to have all the fun?!  This class is a great combination of jazz, ballet and contemporary focusing on technique and dance combinations.  This class is designed for dancers with dance experience wanting to keep up their technique, and flexibility.

Ballroom
Ballroom dance generally refers to dances performed in a partnership to specific choreographed steps.  There are three general classifications of ballroom dance; Standard dances (Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Quickstep), Latin (Cha Cha, Rumba, Paso Doble, Samba) and American Rhythm (Swing, Jive).  At CORE, we emphasize strong technique as a framework to a beautiful and artistic performance.  While CORE dancers are encouraged to compete, this is optional.  We strive to instill a love of dance, not necessarily a love of trophies.
